Wessex Heartbeat House
The Wessex Cardiac Centre serves a very wide area, with many patients coming from outside what would be a reasonable daily travelling distance. Frequent lengthy journeys to and from hospital can not only be very stressful, but also expensive. It is therefore understandable that many relatives with loved ones undergoing treatment at the centre would rather be staying closer to the hospital, so in 1995 Wessex Heartbeat was proud to be able to start offering accommodation in the form of Rotary Heartbeat House. | ||

The Wessex Cardiac Centre serves a very wide area, with many patients coming from outside what would be a reasonable daily travelling distance. Frequent lengthy journeys to and from hospital can not only be very stressful, but also expensive.
The house was built with funds raised by Wessex Heartbeat together with substantial contributions from Rotary International Clubs within the Wessex region and is only a 2 minute walk from the hospital.
Bookings for the rooms have always been made on a first come first served basis once a patient has been admitted to the centre and demand has always been very high. So much so, that Rotary Heartbeat House was extended (re-opening in 2006) and now has a total of 25 bedrooms including a specially equipped wing (Ronald McDonald House) for the parents of children who are patients on Ocean ward.
