Cardiac charity receives generous donation from The Quilter Foundation

Cardiac charity Heartbeat has received a £10,000 donation from the Quilter Foundation to help support its cardiac youth worker scheme.

The donation will go towards Heartbeat’s mission to provide a cardiac youth worker to support the psychological needs of young patients with congenital heart disease.

The funds will support the work of Becky Cutler, Heartbeat’s dedicated cardiac youth worker based at the University Hospital Southampton. Cutler plays a critical role in helping young heart patients navigate mental health challenges such as depression and anxiety, which are often exacerbated by cardiovascular conditions.

“Depression and anxiety are more common among young people with cardiovascular disease and can intensify physical symptoms,” explained Tina Richardson, Head of Operations at Heartbeat. “Many patients have expressed difficulties accessing support following their diagnosis.”

Heartbeat, which has been championing the psychological well-being of young cardiac patients, relies on donations to continue its initiatives. Tina Richardson extended heartfelt thanks to The Quilter Foundation for its ongoing support. “We wouldn’t be able to do this without the generosity of our sponsors. This latest donation is incredible, and The Quilter Foundation has been an extraordinary supporter. Last year, they provided a grant for our 3D Heart project, enabling cardiac specialists to create detailed models of baby and young patients’ hearts to refine treatment and minimise surgical interventions.”

The Quilter Foundation, the charity of wealth management firm Quilter plc, is committed to empowering young people to overcome challenges. Harvinder Rathore, the Foundation’s Engagement Lead, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. “ “The Quilter Foundation is committed to creating brighter futures for the next generation and are proud to support Heartbeat once again through our Local Community Fund. This partnership reflects our dedication to empowering young people and ensuring they have access to the life-changing support they need to thrive and grow. We are delighted to continue championing Heartbeat’s excellent work in improving the lives of young people with congenial heart disease.”

This collaboration underscores the shared commitment of both organisations to improving the lives of young heart patients through innovative care and unwavering support.
