37th George Skeates Cross Country Fun Event
12 Jan 2025
Now in its 37th Year, the George Skeates Cross Country Charity Fun Event - Stockbridge is an annual event.
Run or cycle in the George Skeates 37th fundraising event from the Town Hall, Stockbridge. All proceeds are donated to the George Skeates Benevolent Fund with beneficiaries including Heartbeat, INSPIRE Foundation and Horatio's Garden and there is a discount for entries before end November. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm.
This Fun Run was started in 1986 by Mike Crossman, a friend of George's to raise cash for the Salisbury based inter-grated Spinal Rehabilitation Foundation after George, a Champion British sidecar racer suffered a spinal injury in a motorsport accident in 1985. Since then, the annual Stockbridge event has attracted hundreds of entrants.  Unfortunately in 1994, Mike Crossman died of Heart Failure, So Mike's son Jeb, who continues to organise the event, added Heartbeat to the charity list in memory of his father.
The Long Course: comprises about 8 miles of grassy, rutted and muddy tracks linked with sections of tarmac. Expect cold, tough and slippery terrain with risk of punctures for cyclists.  The Short Course: about 3 miles of quite flat road and long track.
