Since our last newsletter back in September 2023, we have had so many incredible supporters who have organised fundraising events, took up volunteering opportunities, embraced fantastic challenges and generously donated to helping us continue doing what we do.
We would like to say a massive thank you to the following, apologises if we have missed anyone:
Morrisons Totton, Asda Southampton, Tesco’s New Milton, and Asda Totton for supporting Heartbeat in allowing some of our incredible volunteers, Sandra, Margaret, Rowena and Jeanette to raise the charity profile with supermarket stands. Over 5 visits to these stores, the community have donated an incredible £318.78.
Bridport Round Table have generously donated £764.45 from their Annual Bonfire and Fireworks Extravaganza that took place back on the Saturday 11th November 2023. We are so grateful to be able to house relatives from the Bridport community at Heartbeat House.
Carole Young has been organising and holding a Charity Dance since 2012 in memory of two dance colleagues. The event raised £742 back on the 6th January 2024 but since 2012, the event has raised an incredible total of £6,546. So, thank you to Carole and everyone who continually attends the Charity Dance.
Another big thank you goes to Anna Dodd, who took on a growling Aqua Bike 800, Swim and 36km Cycle to raise funds in memory of her daughter Emily. This extraordinary challenge really pushed her to the limits and raised an amount of £3,710.88 to go towards our Psychological Cardiac Youth Worker project.
Frankie Peck took on the Garmin New Forest Marathon back in September 2023 in memory of her sister-in-law, Katie Mock, who passed away from a sudden heart attack at the age of 28. Frankie raised an amazing £1,851.05 while going the extra mile to really raise the importance of looking after your heart.
It was amazing that in December 2023, Lucy and the team from Focused Personal Training organised their first Heartbeat fundraiser called Focused Personal Training's Christmas Cracker 2023 raising a fabulous £875. This was an internal fitness event for their clients, friends and family who really embraced the fundraiser while working out.
Since May 2023, Tanya has been working with 7 amazing venues in the Southampton area who battled it out to be crowned Community Pub of the Year 2023. During this time, all venues raised in total a whopping £4,654.09! We would like to say a massive thank you to the 6 Barrels, Calmore Community Centre, The New Inn Hounsdown, The Keys, The Brass Monkey, Cricketers Arms Woolston and your Community Pub of the Year 2023 Winners, The Elephant and Castle Totton.
We would like to say a massive thank you to Sharon Brady and Paul Cheater for donating an incredible amount of funds to help purchase and distribute 15 defibrillators into the community. This is to allow more access to a defib in an emergency where a life needs saving.
So far, Sharon, Paul, local businesses, and Heartbeat have managed to position and install defibrillators to the following locations:
· St Denys Community Centre
· Independent Plumbing Supplies
· Port Cullis House
· Cranbury’s Removals
· The Elephant and Castle, Totton
We would also like to say a massive thank you to The New Inn Hounsdown and the Alma Inn for their support in working with us to purchase and install a defibrillator on their premises.
We are so grateful for all the support and a huge thank you to all those that we have been unable to mention.
