Teeing Off for a Cause: 24-Hour Golf Challenge in Support of Heartbeat

A team of seven dedicated individuals are taking on an extraordinary test of endurance, determination, and heart—all in the name of charity.

Alex Ind, Jamie Driver, Matt Driver, Andy Bonnon, Harvey Spencer, Dan Warren, and Sam Davies will be challenging themselves to complete an epic 24-hour golf challenge in support of Heartbeat, a charity dedicated to supporting people with heart conditions.

The challenge is not for the faint-hearted. Over the course of a single day, the team will:

  • Walk 60km

  • Take approximately 90,000 steps

  • Complete 6 full rounds of golf

This incredible feat requires both physical stamina and mental grit, but the goal is one that’s close to their hearts—raising vital funds to support cardiac care and promote heart health.

For Alex Ind, this challenge is more than just a test of endurance—it’s deeply personal. Born with a congenital heart condition, Alex has been a cardiac patient since birth. Throughout his journey, both he and his family have received invaluable support from Heartbeat, a charity that has walked beside them through every step of his care.

Over the years, this close relationship with Heartbeat has grown into a heartfelt commitment. The Ind family have not only been beneficiaries of the charity’s work but have also become passionate advocates and supporters. Whether through fundraising efforts, awareness campaigns, or community engagement, they have consistently found ways to give back to the organisation that has given them so much.

MArk Ind, Father of Alex and CEO of Heartbeat commented: "As Alex’s Dad, who has seen him first-hand with my wife, Susie, and our daughter, Holly, suffering great trauma and fighting for his life on several occasions, it makes us incredibly proud to see how he has tackled his cardiac challenges head-on. For him to take on this challenge, six rounds of golf in 24 hours including golf at night, it will absolutely test him physically and mentally to the limit but he is determined to complete all six rounds as he is keen to raise as much money to help fund the renovation of the Heart Failure Unit in the hospital (University Hospital Southampton), that he himself has been treated so well in."

"I must also commend his friends who are also taking part in the challenge, who have always supported Alex so amazingly, especially when he has been in hospital, they are all absolute gentlemen and as the CEO of Heartbeat, I appreciate greatly their fundraising efforts. A final thanks to everyone at South Winchester for their support and for having Heartbeat as their ‘Charity of the Year for 2025 " continued Mark.

Heartbeat is immensely grateful for the commitment and enthusiasm shown by Alex, Jamie, Matt, Andy, Harvey, Dan, and Sam. Their dedication is a true testament to the power of community and the impact of taking action for a meaningful cause.
