Steve Richmond from Hamble, Southampton has completed the Land's End to John O'Groates Virtual Challenge after a year, to raise money for Wessex Heartbeat, the charity which supported his niece Leana, as a baby and her family.

Steve is aiming to raise £1000 for the charity who provided essential support to his family after his 15 year old niece (pictured here with Steve) was born with a life threatening heart condition.

Combining daily runs with long walks alongside his dog, Charlie, Steve also completed two Southampton Half Marathons, the Great South Run, Needles Half Marathon and the Derby 10k over the course of a year.

Completing the Land's End to John O'Groats virtual challenge has been my biggest challenge to date and I am thrilled to have completed it. I do a couple of fundraisers a year for various causes and I often choose Wessex Heartbeat, as it is a charity close to my family's heart.

Steve's niece Leana is currently preparing for further surgery to replace the Pulmonary Valves that were replaced previously at the age of two months.

Knowing the mental and physical challenges Leana is facing at such a young age, helped spur me on during my runs.
