Winchester Round Table have made a wonderful contribution to Heartbeat by sponsoring a room at Heartbeat House, a facility provided by cardiac charity Heartbeat that offers free accommodation for relatives of patients receiving treatment at University Hospital Southampton.
Dr Ben Rusholme from Winchester Round Table said: “Our members are committed to fundraising because they want to make a difference to the lives of local people. We all know someone who has a heart condition and so we are delighted to be able to fund Heartbeat. I was most impressed by the impact Heartbeat House has for those who stay there.”
Winchester Round Table chose to support Heartbeat House via Heartbeat’s Adopt-A-Room initiative. “By sponsoring a room, we are pleased to provide somewhere close-by to stay for friends and relatives of people receiving treatment at the Wessex Cardiac Unit” said Dr Rusholme.
Tanya Harder, Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager at Heartbeat, said: “It was wonderful to meet Ben and show him around Heartbeat House. It gave us the chance to highlight the invaluable support the house provides to relatives during such challenging times. Even though Winchester is only about a 25-minute drive away, we’ve been privileged to support families from the area when they needed us most.
“As a charity, our mission extends beyond just local support—we aim to assist families regionally and nationally too, ensuring they have a safe and welcoming place during a difficult period. This support is vital not only for the relatives but also for their loved ones receiving exceptional care at the Wessex Cardiac Unit.
“On behalf of the families who will find solace at Heartbeat House, we extend heartfelt gratitude to Winchester Round Table for making such a positive difference to the relatives who stay at Heartbeat House.”
